At Rossville Family Dental, our goal is to provide comprehensive dental care that will maintain your smile and treat most dental issues here in our own office. Dr. Urban’s skill, experience, and commitment to each patient blends flawlessly with his devotion to dentistry as not just a science, but an art.
If your teeth aren’t quite the color you’d like them to be, we can make them whiter with a safe, easy procedure in our office. Alternately, we can send you home with an easy to use kit that can be implemented as needed to whiten and brighten your smile.
Prevention is always worth it, saving time and money down the road. We carefully check teeth for decay, ensure teeth and gums are healthy, then apply a thin layer of sealant to the chewing surface of each tooth. This prevents bacteria from settling in the crevices of the tooth, and can help prevent decay.
Tooth Colored Fillings
Gone are the days when a filling meant another shiny tell-all glinting in your mouth. Modern fillings use a strong composite resin to fill cavities. The filling can be shaped then polished to a shine that makes it hard to distinguish from the rest of the original tooth.
Bonding is used when a simple filling is not quite up to the task, or when a front tooth is chipped or damaged. The bonding material, much like the filling material, is tooth colored and can be shaped and polished to make it unobtrusive and natural looking.
When teeth are gapped in front, uneven, stained, or chipped, porcelain veneers can restore a white, even smile that is indistinguishable from a natural one. Continual advancements in technology have made veneers more available, less expensive, and longer lasting through the years.
Root Canal Therapy
Endodontic treatment is required when the pulp of the tooth becomes compromised and infected. A root canal removes bacteria and infected tissue, fills the root of the tooth with a protective substance, and leaves the tooth ready for a customized restoration.
There are times when a tooth is too far gone to save, or is impacted (as in the case of wisdom teeth) and must be removed. Dr. Urban will discuss all of your options with you before removing a tooth, including various options for after the extraction to restore your bite and smile.
If one or more teeth are missing, a bridge can be created to span the gap between teeth. A restoration that looks, feels, and functions like your original teeth is attached to adjacent teeth, providing a proper bite. Bridges can be permanently attached (fixed), or removable.
When multiple teeth are missing or the patient is completely edentulous (toothless), dentures can be used to provide a natural appearance as well as proper surfaces for chewing and speech. Dentures can be partial (replacing only a few teeth in the upper or lower arch) or full (replacing the entire upper or lower arch — or both.)
If a tooth is lost, whether to trauma or decay, an implant is one of the most permanent solutions for its replacement. A titanium post is used to replace the root of the tooth; this attaches firmly to the bone of the jaw. A customized restoration similar to a crown is used to cover the post, creating a tooth that is virtually impossible to identify as not the original.
